Why Don’t All My Credit Lines Show on My Credit Report?

It is not required for any creditor to report credit activity on a consumer. Not only that, they have the option to report to only one, two or all three bureaus if they choose.

In fact, it costs creditors a fee to submit this data to the bureaus, and it must be in specific, highly technical formats to be accepted. This can make it daunting for smaller creditors to report to the bureaus.

It is in the best interest of everyone to have positive and negative information submitted to the bureaus, so many creditors do work closely with the bureaus to keep files updated.
